Day 1: Arrival in Hanoi

Welcome to Hanoi! You will be picked up at the Noi Bai International Airport with our private air-conditioned vehicle to transfer to the hotel for check-in.

Hanoi is Vietnam’s capital with a thousand-year-old history dating back to 1010. The city’s fascinating beauty which is characterized by unique cultural relics, ancient streets of antique houses, elegant French colonial buildings, tree-lined boulevards and romantic lakes has made it one of the most charming cities of Asia.

Day 2: Hanoi Capital Discovery (B/L)

Begin with a tour of Ho Chi Minh Complex where the Vietnamese people honor the country’s ‘Great Father’. Here you’ll visit Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum which contains the embalmed body of Ho Chi Minh and his House on Stilts to observe how he lived and how his life unfolded to become one of modern history’s greatest names. Nearside his house is the miniature 11th-century One Pillar Pagoda, a Buddhist temple of historical and cultural significance.

From HCM Complex, take a short drive to the outskirt of Hanoi to visit the fascinating Museum of Ethnology which is both a research Centre and a public museum exhibiting the 54 recognized ethnic groups of Vietnam. Some of them you will meet during your trip to Sapa.

Take a rest and Have lunch at our restaurant about 1 hour.

After lunch, continue to visit the millennia-old Temple of Literature and explore its role in the country’s past, as both a university and a Confucius temple. Next is Hoa Lo (so-called Hanoi Hilton), a prison used by the French colonists in Vietnam for political prisoners, and later by North Vietnam for U.S. Prisoners of War.

Embark on a fun cyclo (a three-wheeled bicycle taxi) ride through the French colonial architecture of the precinct known as the French Quater, past the French-style villas, the Vietnam History Museum, the heritage Metropole Legend Hotel and the Opera House, name to a few.

Enjoy a cup of unmissable Egg coffee at Pho Co Café with stunning views of Hoan Kiem Lake, Ngoc Son Temple, and the surroundings.

Day 3: Hanoi – Transfer to Ba Be Lake (B/L/D)

After breakfast, you will be picked up by your guide and driver for the five-hour journey to Ba Be Lake in Bac Can province, northeast of Vietnam, approximately 150 miles (230 kilometers) from Hanoi.

En route, you will stop at Thai Nguyen Province to visit the Museum of the Cultures of Vietnam’s Ethnic Groups where you can browse the objects, photographs, and exhibits that give a better understanding of the various ethnic groups and their agricultural tools, handicrafts and traditional costumes worn for worship. Some of the ethnic people you will get to meet on your trip.

Continue on to Ba Be National Park. Along the way, you will enjoy the marvelous views of rice paddies, tea plantations and bamboo paddlewheels on the banks of the river. Arrive at Cho Ra town around midday and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.

Arrive at Boc Lom Quay and transfer to your kayaks. Then paddle down the Nang River towards Ba Be Lake. You will enjoy the dramatic landscapes of chalky cliffs, not bare, but with small wild gardens clinging to the flanks and lianas with their long roots seeking the earth.

Finish the boat trip and transfer to Pac Ngoi, a scenic village of the Tay ethnic people where you will stay overnight at a local thatched house. After check-in and a short rest, you will take a walk around the village, meet and interact with the local people.
